If either of these problems occurs you probably have a pop-up blocker enabled on you browser.

Pop-up blockers or pop-up stoppers are designed to prevent extra pop-up windows (usually advertisements) from opening in your browser. To block some types of pop-up ads, some pop-up blockers will disable JavaScript. However, legitimate software applications such as Train Tracker, also use JavaScript. If your pop-up blocker disables JavaScript, it may block legitimate web site functionality or prevent legitimate software such as Train Tracker from running. Train Tracker uses JavaScript and requires it to be enabled.

Why does Train Tracker use pop-up’s? In order to make Train Tracker as secure as possible Train Tracker is run in a secure console with SSL. This means that you can use the demo Train Tracker with confidence that your test information is safe, but more important when you purchase Train Tracker your data will be completely secure. Train Tracker uses several pop-up windows to make data entry easier. To facilitate printing of reports Train Tracker uses a pop-up window that allows you to print, save and email the reports.

The solution

Disabling pop-up blocker’s

To disable pop-up blocker’s, you’ll need to locate all of the pop-up blocker’s on your computer and either disable them or configure them so that they don’t interfere with Train Tracker. Locating all the pop-up blockers on your computer can be a little tricky; you may have 3 or more of them that you aren’t aware of.

To prevent conflicts, Microsoft recommends that you use only one pop-up blocker at a time. In general, you can use the pop-up blocker you like the most, and either disable or uninstall the others. However, if you have both the MSN toolbar AND the Internet Explorer pop-up blocker (which comes with Windows XP), conflicts may occur. Therefore, Microsoft recommends you use Internet Explorer’s pop-up blocker and disabling the MSN pop-up blocker.

The instructions below will take you through finding your pop-up blockers and either disabling, configuring, or uninstalling them.

Locating pop-up blocker’s on your computer

To allow Train Tracker to launch, you will need to identify all of the pop-up blockers you have running on your computer.

Internet Explorer has a pop-up blocker if you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher installed on your computer.

The Google, Yahoo, and MSN toolbars have pop-up blockers.

In addition third party pop-up blockers, such as ZoneAlarm, may be installed. Check your System Tray (at the bottom right of your screen) to see if additional pop-up blocking programs are installed.

In the Internet Explorer window, click View > Toolbars to check for toolbars that are not visible on your screen, but are installed behind the scenes. They may contain pop-up blockers that are enabled without your realizing it.

In the example below, both the Yahoo! and Google toolbars are not selected, so they are not visible in your browser. However, their pop-up blockers are still enabled and functioning.

Popup Blocker MenuTo turn off pop-up blockers on hidden toolbars, select the toolbar to make it visible in your browser. Then you can either disable the pop-up blocker or configure it to allow pop-ups from Train Tracker.

After you identify all of the pop-up blockers on your computer, decide which pop-up blocker you want to use. You’ll need to either turn it off each time you want to run Train Tracker, or configure it to allow content from Train Tracker.

You will then need to disable or uninstall the pop-up blockers on your computer that you do not want to use.
